Visitor – APPLY for tourism or to visit family, you will need travel documents such as a passport, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eta), or a visa depending which country travelling from. You may require medical exam, and must prove that you have intentions to leave Canada. The most common proof are property documents like a deed to a house, assets like a bank account with a significant amount, family like parents, siblings, spouse. You will also be required to prove that you will have money to cover your stay in Canada.
Student – APPLY for education in Canada, you will need travel documents such as a passport, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eta) or a visa depending which country travelling from. You will most likely be required to provide police certificate and take a medical exam. As well you will need to provide proof of funds to support your schooling which means the tuition, living expenses and your travel home. If you choose to apply with your family on a student application you will need to prove support of funds for all family members. This amount could be significant depending on the number of family members. You WILL NEED an acceptance letter from one of the schools in Canada that are listed as a Designated Learning Institution with the Canadian government. The application for school in Canada can be done through our services as a separate fee or you could choose to apply on your own.
Work – APPLY to temporarily work in Canada, there are other categories but this is the most common. You will need a visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eta), proof of financial support, a medical examination and police certificate may be required. You WILL NEED a job offer or contract from a Canada Business with a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an exemption.

Sponsorship Applications
Minimal requirements for the person who is sponsoring, 18 years of age, must sign an undertaking, must meet minimal income. You cannot be on social assistance, claimed Bankruptcy, have a removal order, convicted of a violent crime, or detained in jail. There are other restrictions that would need to be addressed.
Minimal requirements for the sponsored person, must fall under the family class (usually a spouse), 18 years of age, must declare all dependant children.

FAQ’s: Can I apply for Permanent Residence with this program. Short answer is yes, but you must be invited to apply by the province before you can go ahead. Basically you have to show the province that you have enough skills and requirments for what they are looking for so that they accept your application and then they will ask you to apply to be a permanent resident of Canada. Once you apply it is not an automatic Permanent Resident acceptance.
Grounds for protection are as follows:
Inland
Claimants must make a claim in the first country they arrive (Canada or US)
Claimants will not be eliegible if they applicant goes through the US, then to a Canadian border by land, train or airport, unless refugee cliam was already rejected by the US government.
There are exceptions that can be discussed.
Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds
Application can be submitted from outland and is based on family ties, best interest of children, how settled applicant is, and repercussions if rejected.
Restrictions: Cannot have another application of Refugee, Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds, or Permanent Resident in process. Cannot have a withdrawal/ abandoned or negative decision from the Immigration Refugee Board in the past year unless withdrawal happened prior to the Refugee Protection Division hearing. To discuss all restrictions please book a consultation.
Only a judicial review (another person reviews the file to ensure that no important information was missed) is allowed in a refusal, you cannot appeal.
Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA)
If your refugee application is denied then the CBSA (Canadian Border Services Agency) will advise you if you are eligible to apply for a PRRA after receiving your removal order.
The PRRA application will suspend your removal order until a decision is reached.
Grounds: risk factors of abuse, risk to life, cruel and unusual treatment or punishment.
No appeals are allowed if refused, only a judicial review (another person reviews the file to ensure that no important information was missed).
Refugee Sponsorship Program
Private or Government
Must be recognized by UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioners for Refugees) or foreign state and must be outside of Canada.
Sponsor must provide emotional and financial support for one year

Renouncing Application
A person loses all rights of being a Canadian Citizen by renouncing citizenship and need to start like any other foreign national if they wish to reacquire citizenship.
Reinstating Citizenship
Must become a permanent resident first then become a naturalized citizen.
